William ("Bill") Walls has been more than just a great teacher at the Cisco Systems Regional Academy at Merced College - he was a true friend and mentor that really helped Patrick McElhiney understand the essentials of computer networks, and also allowed Patrick to stay at his house in Atwater several times when Patrick didn't have the energy to commute back to Turlock from a night class in Atwater and then forth to Atwater again the next day for the same class that started the next morning. Patrick also rode up with Bill to CSU Fresno, where he also taught, and Patrick attended an engineering club that Bill had been a member of. Patrick also created an elaborate business card design for Bill Walls for the Cisco Academy that trumped what Merced College provided him. Patrick liked to buy lunch / dinner for Bill during their Cisco classes - they traded off paying for each other's meals. Patrick thinks he left it as Bill's turn, but he'd happily pay twice in a row just for the chance to spend more time with Bill Walls again.
