Background

Patrick has suffered from multiple mental health conditions, social isolation, violence, and major losses in his family over his life, so he is familiar with the issue of suicide prevention, personally. Having suicidal thoughts is nothing to be ashamed of, however it is something that people need to get help for. Patrick also believes that people who have had suicidal thoughts need to be shielded from the world when there are outside influences causing the suicidal thoughts. This was the case with Patrick - having received thousands of threats towards his life, some of which specifically told him he should commit suicide. It's important to remember that regardless of why someone is having suicidal thoughts, there are great things in life that can only be enjoyed by the living, and that most people that are rescued from attempts on their life report that they regretted doing so.
