Patrick McElhiney learned how to design computer-aided graphics by reading books about art, design, and style. He has applied his own ideas to create booklets, brochures, business cards, flyers, newspaper advertisements, postcards, posters, and signs, in addition to front-end interfaces for websites. He is Adobe Certified, and has real-world experience using Adobe Creative Suite, in addition to many other less popular computer graphics programs. Patrick enjoys seeing his design works in circulation. The feeling when professionals use your images, and pay you for their use, is exhilarating.

Patrick also has learned how to design 3d models and scenes, in addition to exporting them into other formats, such as Flash. He has the ability to take 2d sketches, and turn them into 3d models, in addition to working with existing 3d models. It takes a lot of time and patience to work in 3d graphics. Patrick enjoys having the freedom to work on sophisticated marketing materials that really wow customers.

Many of Patrick McElhiney's graphical works can be found online on his company's marketing portfolio. Nearly all of the graphics produced on the MCE123 website originated from Patrick's work. Occasionally another graphic designer was consulted or contracted with for minor works. As Patrick McElhiney's focus is on marketing, it is to be expected that some of his company's works have been contracted out, but always billed to the client by his own company. This shows that he has the business knowledge to run a marketing firm, or marketing department, in all of its production elements from the ground-up.
