Patrick worked as a Campaign Canvass Manager during the 2008 Presidential elections. He helped to elect President Barack Obama, Senator Jeanne Shaheen, and the re-election of Representative Carol Shea-Porter and Governor John Lynch.

Patrick's work with LCV, canvassing in the seacoast area, brought up his previous work with the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. Patrick received multiple threats towards his life during his work with LCV's "New Energy" campaign based out of a Rochester, NH office. One threat originated from off Range Rd. - the subject displayed his gun and asked if Patrick wanted to see it. Patrick said no, but the home owner still displayed the gun in their hands. Another threat came from a small housing development in Rochester, where an occupant said he was going to shoot Patrick. The homeowner seemed to be irritated over politics in general.

Patrick's boss at the LCV campaign office took photographs when Patrick accidentally got the campaign vehicle stuck in mud, and threatened to post it on social media. Patrick asked for copies of the photographs, but didn't receive them. Patrick saw this as a possible future blackmailing opportunity in view of the person that took the photographs, if Patrick runs for a future office, however Patrick just asked the individual for help to get the car out of the mud. Patrick ended up calling AAA off of his own accord, and had the vehicle towed out of the mud. Patrick doesn't forget incidents of people threatening him or his career, and he will disclose these facts in the future if necessary to protect himself from the threats.
